Rookley Country Park

Rookley Country Park, Our Lakes

Rookley Fishery

The fishery boasts two mature lakes within Rookley Country Park, which were converted from overgrown wilderness during the winter of 1998/99. A large restocking program has taken place and the lakes now offer a varied selection of coarse fish species for all anglers of all abilities to pit their wits against.

The Small Lake at Rookley Country Park

The Small Lake

Even though it is only three-quarters of an acre in size, Small Lake is a most attractive and interesting pool with plenty of bankside vegetation, an island, promontory and bays which give the angler plenty of features to fish to.

It contains a variety of species including Roach, Rudd, Perch, Tench, Golden Tench, Mirror Carp, Common Carp and, Perch, Tench, Golden Tench, Mirror Carp, Common Carp and large Crucian< Carp to 3lb 12oz. The Carp are steadily growing with many between 8 and 15lb, with some over 20lb. Best methods include floater fishing in the summer months (but please be careful to keep an eye on the wildfowl), method feeders with pellet or boilies as hookbaits. Float fishing with a single maggot or worms on the drop will account for Roach and Perch, one a cast. Ideal for youngsters and beginners.

The Large Lake at Rookley Country Park

The Large Lake

The large lake is around 2 acres. This is the specimen lake, containing mainly Carp. The Carp total around 130 double figure fish with over 100 20lb plus fish and around 20 over 30lb, all with good growth rates. Most of the fish are from the fast growing Fishers Pond strain and are predominantly Mirrors. The lake record is at present over 40lb. The lake record common is 32lb+.

The majority of fish are caught using boilies. Good quality frozen bait is best and is available on site from the fishery shop, along with pellets, prepared particles and a wide range of carp tackle.

This lake would be classed moderate to difficult, but hit it right and you could catch a biggun!!

Its advisable to book swims on this Lake, as it can get busy at times. Minimun booking is for 48hrs . If you wish to do less than this you can, but on a first come first served basis . All bookings need to be paid for at the time of making them . To check availabilty or book phone Tim on 01983721675
